The New Jersey Devils trade kyle Quincey to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Dylan Prout.
To the Blue Jackets:
To the Devils:
The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired pending UFA Kyle Quincey from the New Jersey Devils with an hour to go for the deadline. Quincey was rumored to be on the trade block for some time now, so it is no surprise to see him headed to a contender.
Kyle Quincey is a puck- moving 11- year vet with 12 points on the year for the Devils. At 6’2” and 216 lbs, Quincey has been accused of not using his size to his advantage over the course of his career. With contenders seeking depth at the deadline, though, Quincey is a solid pickup for the Blue Jackets to bolster their defense.
The Jackets sent the Devils defenseman Dylan Prout in return. Prout, much like Quincey, has been accused of not utilizing size to his advantage. Listed at 6’3” and 230 lbs, Prout has appeared in 15 games for the Jackets this season. At 26 years old, Prout has potential to be a depth defenseman on the Devils’ roster but not much more.
