The Kings’ franchise goaltender led the team onto the ice today for their tilt against the Anaheim Ducks. This will be Quick’s first appearance in 59 games since he suffered an apparent groin injury in the team’s season opener on October 12th.

With Quick back the Kings will have a solid 1-2 punch in net. Peter Budaj‘s performance has been a welcome surprise for the Kings. With Quick’s track record and Budaj’s surprising season, the Kings now posses two goaltenders that can steal wins on almost any given night. Most teams in the league are not so lucky.

Moving Forward

The Kings have three games including tonight until the NHL Trade Deadline on March 1st. With their starter back in net, these games will determine whether the Kings believe they are buyers or not. If they perform well, the Kings will likely make an aggressive move for scoring help.  Thomas Vanek would likely be their number one target.

In other news, Marian Gaborik is scratched tonight. Though the Kings have been shopping Gaborik hard,  he has not performed well. Gaborik’s scratch tonight is solely performance based, and there is no deal imminent, according to David Pognetta.
