The Montreal Canadians have picked up up Jordie Benn from the Dallas Stars.
To the Stars
2017 4th round pick
To the Canadiens
After the Maple Leafs and the Senators both made trades in the last 24 hours it only made sense that the Canadians would follow suit to try and strengthen their side for their final push to the post season. There are many rumors and rumblings out there that the Canadiens are not done and that they could be looking at another major impact top line forward as reported here
Being told Habs are going all in for one of the following: RNH, Duchene, Giroux.

Jamie Benn has solid skills with the puck and is a capable player on the penalty kill. He has scored 15 points in 58 games this season. It appears that he may jump over Nikita Nesterov on the depth charts with the Canadiens.
While we still have a couple days left before the official March 1st deadline time will tell if the Canadians are able to pull any more deals off. My prediction is that they will be the major talk of the next couple days when they do eventually finalize a major block buster deal.
From the Stars side of things this deal makes sense moving out an older player for someone who is a bit younger and adding the value of the 4th round selection in the coming NHL entry draft.
Since making the coaching change the franchise has appeared to be all in on this season and going for the cup right now. This move to help add some depth to their blue line and some veteran experience should do nothing but help the team in their efforts moving forward.
