The Washington Capitals have acquired defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk and AHL goalie Pheonix Copley from the St. Louis Blues. Shattenkirk is currently in the final year of a 4 year, $4.25 million contract and has collected 42 points (11 goals, 31 assists) in 61 total games for the Blues this season. He will reunite with right winger T.J. Oshie, who played for the Blues from 2008-2015. Copley appeared in 1 game for the Blues against the Winnepeg Jets on January 21st, stopping 24 of 29 shots.

The St. Louis Blues acquire Left Wing/Center Zach Sanford, Center Brad Malone along with a 2017 1st round pick and a 2018 2nd round conditional pick.
Sanford has played in 26 games for the Washington Capitals this season collecting 3 points (2 goals and 1 assist).
Malone has spent the season in the AHL totaling 20 points (7 goals and 13 assists) in 52 games.
