The Detroit Red Wings today called up Defenseman Robbie Russo from AHL affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins. He is expected to make his NHL debut tomorrow against Toronto.

Russo, 24, has been impressive since joining the Griffins last season. In his 172 games he has 70 points (12-58-70) and is +54. He leads all Griffins defensemen in scoring (7-24-31) and has joint team leading plus/minus of +14.

Drafted 95th overall by the Islanders in 2011, Russo joined the Red Wings as a free agent in August 2015. Before turning pro, he spent four years with Notre Dame University where he captained the team in his senior year.

Russo stands at 6ft tall, weighs in at 198lbs and is a right hand shot.
