The Chicago Blackhawks head to Tampa Bay today to take on the Lightning after the Panthers mauled the Hawks 7-0 on Saturday night.  The Blackhawks will try to tie a franchise record for most road wins.  The Hawks are 23-11 on the road this year.  The Blackhawks have already clinched a playoff spot, and currently hold the best record in the Western Conference.  The Blackhawks sit at 48-21-6 with 102 points.  The Hawks are 7 points ahead of the Minnesota Wild.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are 2 spots behind a wild card 3 points behind Boston for a playoff spot.  The Lightning sit at 36-29-9.  The Lightning won on January 24th in Chicago.  The Blackhawks lead the overall series 17-12-5-5.

While 3 out of the last 5 games the Hawks have played in have gone into overtime, the Hawks still hold 2-0-1 mark during those games.  If the playoffs started today the Hawks would play the St. Louis Blues.  The Hawks lead the season series 3-2.  The Hawks have 7 games left on the regular season with 5 of them being against teams with a over .500 record.

The Chicago Blackhawks faced the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2015 Stanley Cup Finals, with the Hawks winning 4 games to 2.  The game tonight starts at 6:30 local time at the Amalie Arena.

  • In an interview with Patrick Kane, Kane sounded confident that the Blackhawks would thrive in a playoff atmosphere, “we have a lot of depth, and you just wanna take advantage of your time on the ice and make sure you’re doing positive things for the team.”
  • The United Center is busy right now hosting the Frozen Final 4.  The teams left are Harvard, Minnesota Duluth, Notre Dame, and Denver.
