The New York Rangers have jumped into the shrinking NCAA market, signing forward Vinny Lettieri and defenseman Vince Pedrie.
Vinny Lettieri is a 22-year-old Center (5’10”, 181 lbs) who played with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. In 38 games with the Gophers this season, Lettieri finished strong with 37 points (19G, 18A). A familiar face waits for him within the Rangers organization, having played two seasons with rookie defenseman Brady Skjei. The Chicago Blackhawks were also in talks Lettieri.
Vince Pedrie, a 23-year-old defenseman for Pennsylvania State University, will not be completing his last two years of school as his career turns professional. An offensive-minded defenseman, Pedrie has scored eight goals in both of his seasons with the Nittany Lions. He totaled 22 points in his freshman season, and then 30 in his second.
Both players are expected to join the struggling Hartford Wolf Pack (22-39-4) for the remainder of the season.
