The Colorado Avalanche have announced that they have relieved Assistant Coaches Tim Army, Dave Farrish, and their goalie coach Francois Allaire.  While the Avalanche moving on from both Tim Army and Dave Farrish was anticipated by me. I was a bit more surprised to see Francois Allaire let go.

Not by much, but with the way that the Avalanche have told BSN Avalanche that they are going to be protecting Varlamov in the expansion draft and going with him as their number one it made me think that Allaire was a big piece to this puzzle. He was the goalie coach who helped Varlamov to have his Vezina finalist season a few years back.

That being said when you end a season with a franchise and NHL-worst  48 point total changes have to be made.

Tim Army has been with the Avalanche for the last six seasons and has been in charge of the Avalanche Power Play for most of that time. Here is the article that I discussed Tim Army’s situation with the team earlier.

Farrish was with the Avalanche for two years and Allaire had been with the Avalanche since 2013.

Who would you like to see the Avalanche consider for the openings?

Is there a specific guy you think could help turn the special teams play around, or maybe a hot young goalie coach that you absolutely love?  Let us know in the comments and we can continue the discussion there!

*Will be updating this article if any more news is announced or any signings take place today.
