Viktor Arvidsson and Austin Watson filed for salary arbitration yesterday. I am not too surprised that the Predators and Arvy’s camp are not on the exact page right now considering how out of the blue his production was this season. Arbitration hearings start on July 20th and run through August 4th, so there is still time for a deal to be reached prior to this process.

This is something that Pred Nation should not be too worried about. The Preds know Arvy’s worth and they just need to find that middle ground. As far as Austin Watson, his value is pretty easy to measure and either way I do not believe he is going to cost too much to sign.

The good news is Ryan Johansen did not file for arbitration, which tells me the two sides are probably pretty close. It could still drag on until we get closer to the season starting, but I think this one gets done.

Marek Mazanec also filed for arbitration yesterday. This is a bit odd, since I think we all thought the Predators were going to part ways with him. Not really sure what to make of this move.

My name is Daniel Jones, I am from the Washington D.C. area originally, but have lived in Nashville, Tn since 1983. I grew up a fan of the Washington Capitals and I am still partial to them. However, I became a day 1 season ticket holder with the Nashville Predators when they arrived. My wife and I have been hardcore Preds fans ever since. Being asked to cover to the Preds for Puck Planet is both a dream and an honor. I hope to do both the website and Predator fans proud.
