Yesterday the Golden Knights announced that they have signed defencemen Brayden McNabb to a four-year extension totaling $10 million.  So far he has been a staple on the team’s blue line appearing in all but three contests to this point in franchise history. He currently leads the taem in blocked shots with 52 and in hits with 56. He is quickly becoming a fan favorite with his physical hard nosed play. He is also only one of just six players currently in the NHL to have accumulated at least 50 plus hits and 50 plus blocked shots at this point in the season.

Thoughts from McPhee

“McNabb is a very good defensive defenceman. He’s got a long stick, and is good with his stick. He’s locked down some top opposing players for us and we hope he’s here for the rest of his career.”

“We certainly hope McNabb will continue to grow, and be a solid, top-4 defender for us for a long time.”

My Reactions/ Thoughts

I think that with the way they are playing getting McNabb locked up to a long-term extension now was a great move by the Knights. He has quickly become one of the fan favorites and he has been showing that he might be capable of a bit more then he has been given the opportunity to show in the NHL to this point in his career. He has consistently worked hard to shut down some of the top lines of the opposing teams this season and has had great success in doing so most nights. I have all ways liked McNabb as a player and I am excited to see what he can do with the Knights the rest of this season and beyond.

Your thoughts?

What do the fans out there think of this extension? Are you glad that we got him locked up for the next four seasons? Do you think that he is someone who could have gotten more value in an expiring contract deadline trade as we look to the future? Let us know your thoughts in the comments and we can continue the discussion!
